Ideal for painting architecture, nature studies, human figure drawing, travel and urban sketching. This timeless palette is naturally beautiful and harmonious, and includes fundamental colours for painting and drawing.
These historic ochres, siennas, earths and neutrals make up a limited palette that has often been used for preparatory sketches and value studies. This collection takes its name from Sinopia, an ancient red-brown earth pigment imported to Europe from Cappadocia via the port of Sinope, a Greek colony on the Black Sea. Sinopia was widely used in the Renaissance to make preparatory sketches for frescoes directly on the wall.
These sketches came to be known simply as sinopie. It includes a new tan sienna, made from a natural pigment extracted from the historic quarry near Arcidosso, Monte Amiata. This colour has a soft granulation, excellent lightfastness and vibrant richness.
Wonderful for blending. Although the historic quarry, known as the sega, closed long ago, special access has been gained to its reserves of this exceptional natural sienna, which is calcined by @wallaceseymour. It's exciting to bring this pigment back to artists once again.

Gallo watercolours are made according to a traditional recipe with pure pigments, gum arabic, local honey, rosemary essential oil and a wetting agent.
This artisanal process results in a highly pigmented and luminous paint, which is wonderfully activated by water. Gallo Colors are 100% handmade. The godets may have small imperfections, such as tiny bubbles or slight marks.
This does not affect the quality of the paint and is proof of the handwork behind each unique piece. It is also recommended to keep them out of reach of pets. Safety and sustainability: All A.
Gallo Colors watercolours are free of cadmium, cobalt, lead and mercury.
